One of the popular programs for silencing and removing malware is Malwarebytes. It’s the perfect tool for any computer user. The free version works quite well too, but just as long as the user performs regular scans of their Windows 11/10 computer.
But Malwarebytes is aggressive and so is known to give out false positives as it prefers to classify many commonly used programs as Potentially Unwanted Programs. In this post, we will show you how to add a program you trust to the whitelist list, or whitelist a site that you trust.
How do I stop Malwarebytes from blocking files?
To stop Malwarebytes from blocking files or websites, you need to whitelist them. You will have to open Malwarebytes Add Exclusion Wizard to do this.
How do I whitelist something in Malwarebytes?
To whitelist something in Malwarebytes you need to add the program, file, folder or a website URL to its Exclusions List as shown in this post.

- After that, click on the tab that says Allow List.
- Once here, click on the Add button
- A new window pops up with several options to choose from.

How to add Program to Malwarebytes Exclusion List
To add Program, File or Folder to Malwarebytes Exclusion List:
- Launch Malwarebytes
- Click on the Settings icon on the top right side
- After that, click on the tab that says Allow List.
- Once here, click on the Add button
- Select Allow a File or Folder
- Next, click on Select a file or folder button
- Select your Exclusion rules
- Click Done.
Bear in mind that excluding a file means Malwarebytes will not be able to detect it, even if the file becomes infected in the future.
How do I allow apps through Malwarebytes?
The procedure to allow an application to connect to the Internet is the same. Once here, select this option, browse to the app folder and select it. Usually, Microsoft Store apps are not blocked. If it is a side-loaded app, you may need to follow the given procedure.

How to add Website to Malwarebytes Exclusion List
Stopping a website from being blocked is pretty much the same action. To add website to Malwarebytes Exclusion List:
- Launch Malwarebytes
- Click on the Settings icon on the top right side
- After that, click on the tab that says Allow List.
- Once here, click on the Add button
- Select Allow a website
- The pop-up screen gives the option to add a domain name or an IP address.
- Enter the details and click Done.
Once these are added, the program won’t scan them when browsing the web.
Can I exclude a previously detected exploit?
Yes, you can. Several computer users have exploits running on their systems. Some of these exploits aren’t performing illegal activities; therefore, these Windows 10 users should be able to do whatever they want. However, anti-virus programs are designed to block and quarantine anything they view as a threat.
To make sure your exploit is not blocked and quarantined from the system:
- Open Add Exclusions Wizard
- Select Add a Previously Detected Exploit to your Allow List then click Next.
- From the next window, the user will locate the exploit and any associated application and exclude them from detection.
At the end of the day, we recommend folks to be careful of the files they exclude and make sure there’s at least a basic understanding of what the file can do.
