Fix Amazon Fire TV does not open browser links
If you cannot open browser links on Amazon Fire TV, follow the solutions mentioned below to fix the issue:
- Powercycle the Amazon Fire TV
- Check the Internet connection
- Install the Amazon Silk browser
- Use another browser
- Install the Downloader app
- Check ADB Debugging
- Contact Amazon support
Let’s get started.
1] Powecycle the Amazon Fire TV
The first thing to do before going for a time-consuming troubleshooting guide is to switch off your device and then restart it again. Just remove the plug from your TV, wait for a minute and then replug it. Also, make sure that the cord is plugged in right, otherwise, this can also be the reason why you see the error. Now, restart your TV and check if the link is opening or not.
2] Check the Internet connection
A bad Internet connection may be the reason why you are not able to open the browser link. The reason behind this is that your server is not able to connect with the client and hence the error. If this is the case, check your bandwidth using some of the free online Internet Speed Testers and see if it is slow. Restart your router and then check your Internet, if it is still the same, contact your ISP.
3] Install the Amazon Silk browser
Amazon Silk Bowser is a browser that is made especially for Fire Tablets, Fire TVs, and Echo Show devices. Therefore we recommend you install the Amazon Silk browser and use it instead of the one you are using. Amazon Silk may come pre-installed on your Fire Stick as they are both Amazon apps. You can find it in Settings > Application > Silk Browser.
4] Use another browser
The reason that Amazon fire TV is not able to open links and apps might be because of a corrupted browser cache, wrong configuration, or incompatibility issues. To resolve the issue, you can delete the browser cache. If you are using the Amazon Silk browser then make sure that Parental settings are disabled. This setting seems to be crashing the Silk browser and causing launching issues. However, if the issue persists, switch to another browser. Connect Amazon Stick and now, check if the link can be opened or not.
5] Install the Downloader app
According to some users, installing the Downloader app seems to be resolving the issue. The downloader app is one of the most common sideloading tools that Firestick uses for downloading apps that are not present in the Amazon app store. To do the same, follow the prescribed steps.
- Launch Amazon App Store on your Fire TV.
- Type “Downloader” in the search box and continue.
- Go to the Downloader app and click on Install.
- After downloading and installing the app, launch it, type https://www.amazon.com/ or the URL you want to access, hit Go, to navigate the Amazon website.
This is something that you can try if other browsers are not working
6] Check ADB Debugging
In this solution, we are going to make sure these two things: A. ABD Debugging is enabled, and B. The connection is right. To do the same we are going to use the computer. Follow the prescribed steps to do the same:
- Click on Settings and select the System Option.
- Click on Developer options and switch the ABD Debugging toggle key on.
- Now, connect Amazon Fire tv to your computer, and open a command prompt.
- Type the following and then press Enter:
ADB devices
- Add your Amazon Fire TV address to your browser.
Now, open the link and see if the issue persists. Hopefully, this will do the job.
6] Contact Amazon support
If nothing worked from the above-mentioned solutions then contact Amazon Support service and asked them to look into the matter. They will connect with you remotely and troubleshoot the issue.
Hopefully, you will be able to resolve the issue using the solutions mentioned in this post.
