Why is the bottom of my screen flickering Windows 11?

We recommend you check the solutions mentioned below to resolve the issue.

2] Change the resolution of your system to default
If you have made some changes to your screen’s resolution, we recommend you change it back to the default. There might be something to do with the compatibility of the monitor that you are running, that is why, it is better to stick to the default resolution. To change your Windows 11 resolution, follow the steps mentioned below.
- Open Settings.
- Go to System > Display.
- From the Scale & layout section, change the Display resolution to the one recommended.
After changing the resolution, see if your screen flickering is resolved.
3] Fiddle with the refresh rate
Certain refresh rates are impossible for your monitor to handle if it supports multiple refresh rates, maybe because of the latest driver or some compatibility issue. To resolve the issue, we recommend changing the refresh rate to something else and seeing if that works.
To do so, just open Settings, go to System > Display > Advanced display (from Related settings) and then change the FPS from the Choose a refresh rate section.
4] Update your GPU drivers
You may also encounter the screen flickering issue if the graphics drivers you are currently using are outdated, which can lead to some compatibility issues. So, to resolve it, our best option is to update the GPU drivers. You can try the following methods to update your drivers.
- If you want to update just the integrated GPU driver, go to Device Manager, expand Display Adapter or Monitor, right-click on the driver, and select Update drivers.
- Alternatively, you can download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and then install it.
- Or, download a free driver update software to keep your drivers updated.
After updating the driver, check if the issue is resolved.
If updating the display driver didn’t resolve the issue, you can try uninstalling them and installing a fresh set of drivers to remove any corruption that could have been causing the issue.

5] Troubleshoot in Clean Boot
Third-party software may be influencing your monitor’s screen and causing screen flickering. To resolve this, we will stop all third-party software and their services from running in the background and then see what’s causing the issue using the Clean Boot state. To do so, follow the steps mentioned below.
- Hit Win + S, type “msconfig”, and hit Enter.
- Now, navigate to General, untick Load Startup, tick Load System Services, and Use Original boot configuration.
- Now, go to Services, click on Hide All Microsoft Services checkbox, and click on Disable all.
- Then, go to Startup > Open Task Manager.
- Right-click on the programs where Startup is set to Enabled and click on Disable.
- Close the Task Manager and click on Apply > Ok.
You now have to restart your computer. Once your computer starts, check if the issue is resolved. If you can’t notice the screen flickering, you need to enable the services manually to find out what’s causing the issue. After finding the culprit, you can either remove it completely or disable its services.
