Outlook Express is loved by thousands of people around the world, but Microsoft got rid of the popular email tool when it launched Windows 10. The company then poured its energy into the Mail app we’ve come to enjoy using today. However, there are still those who would prefer to make use of Outlook Express to this day!
How do I get Outlook Express on Windows 10/11?
Well, I am sure you could download the outdated and unsupported Outlook Express software from some archive or download site. But that is not something we would recommend. Instead, you could switch to Microsoft Outlook or Windows Mail app – or OE Classic, which may interest you!
How to use OE Classic on Windows 11/10
So, we assume you’re interested in taking advantage of what OE Classic has to offer, and that we understand. The information below will definitely answer any questions you might have.
- Download and install OE Classic for Windows 11
- Open OE Classic
- Add an email account to OE Classic
- Choose your preferred type of email address
- Add your email account credentials
- Enter your email server settings
- Click the Send/Receive button
1] Download and install OE Classic for Windows
In order to download this app, you must visit the official website at oeclassic.com, and from there, click the green download button to get it on your computer. It’s not a large file, therefore, we do not expect you to have any problems downloading and installing at all.
2] Open OE Classic
After installation, you must now move to open the app. You can do this by either double-clicking on the icon located on your Desktop, or opening it from the Start Menu.
3] Add an email account to OE Classic
To get the most of this tool, obviously, you must add one or more email addresses. To do this, click on Tools > Accounts > Add.
4] Choose your preferred type of email address
The next step, then, is to select the correct type of email address. You should now be seeing Email Account and Newsgroups Account. Chances are, you want to add an email address, so select Email Account then hit Next.
5] Add your email account credentials
From this section, you must choose a Type. The options are IMAP and POP3, but we recommend selecting IMAP instead of the alternative. Next, include your name, email address, and password. Hit the Next button to complete this phase.
6] Enter your email server settings
You will now want to add your email server settings. In most cases, nothing needs changing. However, if you do need to, then click on Show Advanced Options and make the necessary changes. After that, click the Next button > Finish, and that’s it.
7] Click the Send/Receive button
The final step here is to populate OE Classic with emails. Simply click the Send/Receive button at the top, then wait as OE Classic contacts the Microsoft servers in a bid to have all your emails make an appearance.
Is Outlook Express usable on Windows 11/10?
The simple answer to this question is No. You cannot get Outlook Express for Windows 11/10. Microsoft has discontinued support. Still, even if you could find the file online, we would not recommend installing it on your computer because of the lack of security updates. Another reason we don’t recommend using it is because of security. Even if you find the setup file, it may not be secure anymore, and since it’s the email we are talking about, you do not want your data to get stolen.
Is there an alternative tool to Outlook Express for Windows 11/10?
Yes, there is, and it is called OE Classic. The developer says this app is the perfect replacement for Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail. However, you will be limited on features. Instead, you can always try the mail application available on Windows instead of using the old ones. It also supports multiple email accounts; you get all features, such as folders, spam checks, etc.
