- Use Install Unlocker Utility
- Use the Registry Editor
- Use I forgot my PIN option
1] Use Install Unlocker Utility
Unlocker is an application that’s used to unlock, move, remove, and rename locked files on a PC, and you can delete older PINs using it, as well. So, to change or modify the PIN in Windows 11/10, follow these steps.
Step 1: Create a new administrative account
- Navigate to Command Prompt and Run as administrator
- You need to create a new administrator account. So, execute this command
net user administrator /active:yes
The above steps will create a new administrator account on your system.
Step 2: Download and install Unlocker Utility or any other free File Deleter software to delete locked files and folders.
Now, you can use the Unlocker Utility for the system. Using this, you can delete the current NGC folder from your system and create a new PIN.
- Download and install the Unlocker Utility
- After downloading go to the download location
- Double-tap on the Unlocker Utility
- Select English and click OK to proceed
- Follow the on-screen instruction to proceed further
- If any third-party tools are offered, uncheck their installation offers.
- Now, click on Next
- In the last step before installation, you must check the Explorer extension option
- Now, click on Install
- Finally, once the installation process is over, tap Finish to complete this process
Step 3: Delete the NGC folder
Now, you can remove the NGC folder from the system that stores the PIN-related information. Follow the below steps to do so.
- First press the Window + E keys, which will open the File Explorer
- In the File Explorer Windows, follow the below path to go to the NGC folder
C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft
Note: When you are going to the NGC folder, you might not find the AppData folder as it is usually hidden. So, to show all hidden folders in File Explorer, follow the steps given below.

- In the File Explorer screen, click on the three dots
- Tap on the Options
- In the Folder Options window, go to the View section
- Now, check the Show hidden files, folders, and drives option
- To save the change click on Apply and then click OK
- Now, your all hidden files will be visible on your File Explorer Window, now right-click on the NGC folder
- Now, click on the Show more options
- Then, click on Unlocker to run the Unlocker
- In the Unlocker Windows, choose Delete from the drop-down list
- Now, click on OK
Now, that your NGC folder is deleted, restart your system, and log in again with your username and password. But if you are not able to access your account using your old password, you can use the Administrator’s account that you have created in the first step.
Now, try to add a new PIN.
2] Use the Registry Editor
Registry Editor allows users to create a new PIN for the system. For device safety, we recommend you create a backup of the registry before you perform any change in your system. Follow these steps to create a backup.
- On the Registry Editor windows, click on the File
- Then click on the Export to create a new registry backup on your system
- Name your backup and save it somewhere on your computer
Here are the following steps to create a new PIN in Windows 11/10.
- Press the Window + R keys to open Run
- Type Regedit and click OK
- Click Yes to allow this app to make a change to your device
- Now, on the Registry Editor window, go on this way
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Polices\Microsoft\Windows\System
- Now, You need to create a new DWORD
- So, just right-click on the blank and then tap on New and, tap on the DWORD (32-bit) value option
- Name the value as AllowDomainPINLogon
- Now, double tap on it to change its value, and set the value to 1
- After that click on OK to save the change
Now, restart your system and, you can easily create a new PIN for your account.
3] Use I forgot my PIN option
If the above steps do not work, you can use the I forgot my PIN option. Follow the below steps to use this option.
- When you are on the sign-in page, just click on I forgot my PIN
- Now, you have to log in to your Microsoft account
- Type your Microsoft account password and click on Sign in
- Now, click on your Email
- Now, you will get a 6-digit code on another device to verify your account
- Type the code in the appropriate location
- Then, click on Verify to complete the verification
- After successful verification, you can reset your PIN
- Now, type your new PIN twice
- After that click OK

How do I change my PIN on Windows 11?
To change your PIN, follow the below steps.
- Press the Window key and click on the Settings
- Go to the Accounts and click on the Sign-in options tab
- Click on the PIN (Windows Hello) setting
- Click on the Change PIN button
- Confirm the account’s current PIN
- Now, type your New PIN
- Confirm the new PIN
- Click the OK button

What if I forgot my computer PIN?
If you have forgotten your computer password. So, in this situation follow the below steps.
- Go to the Sign-in page and click on the I forgot my PIN
- Your Microsoft account will appear. You have to log into it
- Now, type your Microsoft account password and click on Sign in
- Now, you have to verify your account with 6 digit code. Click on your Email
- Now, you will get a 6-digit code in the email from another device
- Apply code to verify your account
- After successful verification, you can reset your PIN
- Now, type your new PIN
- Confirm new PIN
- After that click OK

- Under the User, Accounts box select the account for which you want to remove the PIN
- Uncheck the option User must enter a user name and password to use this computer
