If ChatGPT says Error communicating with plugin service, Please try again later, follow the solutions mentioned below to resolve the issue.
- Refresh the page and/or restart the browser
- Remove ChatGPT and Chrome plugins manually to find out which is at fault
- Clear browsing cache
- Switch to a different browser for a while
Let us talk about them in detail.
1] Refresh the page and/or restart the browser
First of all, we need to hard refresh the page by pressing Shift+F5 and then check if that helps. This will allow it to load properly and this time, hopefully, GPT will communicate to the plugins and not throw any errors.

2] Remove ChatGPT and Chrome plugins manually to find out which is at fault
Filter plugins and see if a plug is corrupted or is conflicting with the service. To do the same, open the Plug Store in ChatGPT and disable all the plugins. Now, enable them manually to find out which one is the culprit. Once you know which plugin is incompatible, please remove it & reinstall it and see. If that does not help, it’s best to uninstall it for now.
In case no ChatGPT plugin is at fault or after removing the plugin, the issue persists, you need to disable all Chrome plugins manually and enable one at a time to identify which one is the offender.
3] Clear browsing cache
Occasionally, the issue is caused when the browser’s cache is corrupted. Caches are saved locally to quickly access frequently used items. Go ahead and clear the cache of the Chrome browser. To do the same, you need to follow the steps mentioned below.
- Launch Chrome.
- Now, click on the three vertical dots and select Settings from the list.
- Then, go to Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data.
- Set the Time range to All time, make sure to check the Browsing history, Download history, Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files, and then click on the Clear data button.
Finally, check if the issue is resolved.
4] Switch to a different browser for a while
There can be a bug in your browser that’s conflicting with ChatGPT and stopping it from doing its job. That is why you can switch to a different browser for a while and then check if the issue is resolved.
Hopefully, this will do the job for you.
