The process also helps you discard any unwanted tidbits of data which could impact your browser performance.
How to clear Browser Cache, Cookies, History in Chrome
To clear your browser cache in the Google Chrome browser, follow these steps:
- Open Chrome
- Select More settings
- Select More tools option
- Click on ‘Clear browsing data’.
- Finally, select the items that you want to be deleted
- Click Clear data
- Restart the Chrome browser.
Let us see the procedure in a bit more detail.
Launch Google Chrome browser. From the top right, click ‘More’ menu visible as 3 dots.
Choose ‘More tools’ options and then ‘Clear browsing data’.
When the ‘Clear browsing data’ window opens, check the boxes against given options.
Select a time range. By default, the option provides is ‘All Time’ but you can change it to either Last hour, 24 hours, 7 days or 4 weeks.
When done, hit the ‘Clear Data’ button to remove cache, cookies and browsing history in Chrome
To clear browsing data from all of your synced devices and your Google Account, you’ll need to sign in.

How to clear Browser Cache, Cookies, History in Firefox
To clear your browser cache in Mozilla Firefox browser, follow these steps:
- Open Firefox
- Click on Open Menu
- Select the Library option
- Choose History > Clear Recent History option
- Finally, select the items that you want to be deleted
- Click Clear Now
- Restart the Firefox browser.
Let us see the procedure in bit more detail.
Launch Firefox browser click ‘Open menu’ visible as 3 horizontal bars and select the ‘Library’ option.
Next, choose ‘History’ > ‘Clear Recent History’ option.
From the window that appears on your computer screen, select a Time range as seen in Chrome browser. However, the options available here are different and include
- Last Hour
- Last Two Hours
- Last Four Hours
- Today
- Everything
Select the desired option.
Next, check the boxes adjacent to ‘Browsing & Download History’, ‘Cookies’ and ‘Cache’.
Alongside the above options, you’ll find 2 additional boxes-
- Offline Website Data – Lets a website can store files on your computer so that you can continue to use it when you are not connected to the Internet.
- Site Preferences – Records Site-specific preferences, like the saved zoom level for sites, character encoding, and the permissions for sites (like pop-up blocker exceptions) described in the Page Info window.
If you would like to remove information stored therein too, check the boxes.
In the end, hit ‘Clear Now’ button to remove cache, cookies and browsing history in Firefox.
The action upon confirmation will close the window and clear or remove the items you’ve selected from your history.
