You may encounter a memory failure error when trying to start your computer. As evident from the error message, this issue is related to your RAM, however, it can be resolved. Alert! Correctable memory error has been detected in memory slot
What is Correctable memory error has been detected error?
ECC RAM correctable errors occur when the server detects a wrong bit in the memory it reads. This can indicate that one of your memory modules is failing. However, mostly it is due to the fact that your computer is unable to detect the memory. We recommend you follow the solutions mentioned in this post to resolve the issue.
Fix Correctable memory has been detected in memory slot error
If a correctable memory has been detected on your Windows 11/10 computer, try out the following suggestions.
- Retry boot
- Reseat the RAM stick
- Attach the RAM stick to a different slow
- Check if the RAM is working
- Update your BIOS firmware
Let us talk about them in detail.
1] Retry boot
Whenever you see this error message, there will be a shortcut key displayed there to restart the booting process. In this case, it was F1. So, hit that key and try rebooting. If it works, we can consider it a glitch, but if it doesn’t, move to the next solution.
2] Reseat the RAM stick
Next up, we are required to check and make sure that the RAM stick is seated perfectly into its slot. If the connection is not tight, your memory card can wobble especially if your fan is running. So, unplug your cables, remove the RAM stick, and slot it perfectly and firmly.
First of all, you need to remove the back panel of the case and reach the RAM slot. After locating the RAM slot, push down the lock tab from both ends to free it up. Make sure to align the RAM stick with the slot, ensuring that the notch of the RAM stick matches that of the slots. Ensure that it is centered between the latch locks. Apply pressure to insert the RAM stick straight down until it clicks into place. It may require some force, but this is normal.
3] Attach the RAM stick to a different slot
There is a possibility that your RAM stick is fine, but the slot has malfunctioned. In that case, take out the RAM stick, and attach it to some other slot. You can also try cleaning the slow and making sure that no dust or debris is stuck in there.
4] Check if the RAM is working
If the slot is not at fault here, we need to take a lot at the RAM stick, remove it, and then attach it to some other computer and see if that helps.
5] Update your BIOS firmware
If the RAM is working on a different computer but not yours and you have tried everything, get your friend’s RAM stick, connect it to your computer, and see if it starts. In case it starts, you need to update the BIOS firmware. Once you are done with that, re-connect your RAM stick and see if that resolves the issue.
That’s it!
