Google Chrome is not the most popular web browser for nothing, and it has a lot to do with its multiple useful features. One of the features we like is Profiles, a tool that allows users to manage their information better while juggling several apps.
What is a Chrome Profile?
The Chrome user profile allows the user to separate web browser details into individual units, where each profile will have its own extensions. Not only that, but the settings, bookmarks, browser history, themes, saved passwords, etc., are all different.
Profiles are opened in different Chrome windows; each window only uses the information from the specific profile and nothing else. In layman’s terms, Chrome Profile is a useful thing that everyone who uses the Google browser should take advantage of.
With the addition of Chrome Sync, all data are not uploaded to the cloud, which means that when you use Chrome on a different computer, there will be no need to reconfigure profiles all over again like in the old days.
The Profile feature is also great for folks who share their web browsers with others. It works very well, which is why we are going to explore it further.
How to create a new Profile in Chrome browser
You can share your Chrome browser with others. Let us see how to create multiple Profiles in Google Chrome using the Profile Manager.
- Launch Chrome browser
- Click the Profile icon in the top right side of the browser
- Select Add
- Add a Name and select the icon
- Opt to create a desktop short for this profile
- Click the Add button.
- Close Chrome.

Add new Chrome profile
When its time to add a new profile, this can be done without much effort. Just be sure Google Chrome is already installed and opened on your Windows 10 computer, and from there, click the Profile icon. This icon shows your Google Account picture, so it’s easy to spot.
You’ll see a header with the name, Other people. Click Add from under the header to create a new profile with ease. Be sure to enter a name and an image to complete creating the new profile. You can choose to create multiple profiles for whatever reasons, and that is something we like.
Switch Chrome profiles at anytime
After creating a new profile, it will open in a new window right away. Now, if you want to switch between profiles, select the profile icon once more, then click on the gear button to open the menu with all the saved profiles.
From there, select the one you want to switch over to, and that’s it. Now, if when creating a profile and you optioned to have a desktop shortcut, you can select that shortcut instead of going to the Profile section again.
How to remove or edit a Chrome Profile
If you want to remove a profile, then yet again, we must revisit the profile icon and navigate back to the section where we can switch to a different profile. You should see the three-dot icon on the profile you want to edit or remove. Select it, then click on Remove This Person.
To edit, click on the profile name after selecting the three dots.
