Windows 10 can easily be tweaked by adding some custom JavaScript files. One such file includes BeautySearch which lets you customize your Windows 10 Search feature. Let’s learn a bit more about this free tool.
BeautySearch, as the name signifies adds some beauty to your Windows 10 Search tool. It is a simple and lightweight portable tool and thus won’t affect your PC’s performance for sure. Make sure you are running it as an administrator, or else you won’t be able to install it.
BeautySearch – Customize Windows 10 Search
Download it and run it as an administrator. It takes hardly any time to download and once you run it on your PC, you get the list of tweaks available through this script, select the changes you want and click on Install. All except ‘Follow system theme’ and Hide context menu’s borders’ are checked by default and for now, I checked them all and installed the program.
Show Accent Color On Search Window
So my Search window is colored and a bit more beautiful, in fact, my entire taskbar is colored now.
Show Search results in Dark Theme
My Search results are still in a light theme, and to get them in a dark theme, I first need to change the color scheme from the Taskbar Settings.
Right-click on your taskbar and click on Taskbar Settings-> Colors–>in the tab saying, chose your color, Select Dark, and then your search results will be shown in a dark theme.
Remove background from UWP Application Icons
BeautySearch actually removes the background of all UWP application icons. Icons of all these applications have a plain tile background which makes the icon look bigger, with this tool you can remove that background, and yes it looks better without a background.
Check the screenshots – Photos app with and without the background.
Context Menu Tweaks
Context Menu also gets some simple tweaks like shadows, rounded corners, and a new acrylic effect and yes it certainly looks beautiful.
Hide outlines when using the mouse
The outlines however make the navigation easier and better, removing them may make your UI look a bit better. You can anyways unselect this option while installing BeautySearch if you don’t want to remove the outlines.
While installing BeautySearch, I checked all the options including the two left unchecked by default- ‘Follow system theme’ and Hide context menu’s borders’ and I think you should let them unchecked as suggested by the program itself.
Well, this was a detailed overview of what BeautySearch does to your PC and how it lets you customize and add a little beauty to your Windows 10 Search Tool. You can download it here from Github.
If you don’t like the changes done by this tool, simply click on the Uninstall button and all the changes will be undone.
