If the Disk Space Bar has gone missing all of a sudden in This PC of Windows 11/10, follow these suggestions:
- Change View type
- Reset Folder View
- Change Registry Value
- Shorten the Volume Label
Now, let’s take a look at all the solutions in detail.
1] Change View type
The problem can occur if you have made any changes in the View type. As it turns out, disk storage is shown if the View type is set to Tiles. If this isn’t the case, i.e., if you have set the View type to some other option, like Details, you are most likely to face the problem. To get rid of the issue, you will have to change the View type. Here’s how.
- Open the File Explorer.
- Click on the drop-down icon present next to View.
- From the context menu, choose Tiles.
- It will instantly change the Device and drives view type.
If you are still facing the problem, try the next solution on the list.

2] Reset Folder View
Windows 11 comes with a lot of customization features; one such feature is Folder View. It is used to manage the Folder View settings as per your requirement. But the Folder View has a history of changing its settings automatically. If this is the case with you as well, you are most likely to face the problem in the question. You will have to reset Folder View to get rid of the issue. Below are the steps to do it.
- To begin with, open the File Explorer using Windows + E shortcut key.
- Click on the three-dots present at the top of the screen.
- From the context menu, click on Options.
- Switch to the View tab.
- Click on the Reset Folders option.
- It will set the view of This PC to the default settings.
Now, reboot your system and check if you still face the problem. If not, you are good to go. But in case the problem continues, try the next solution on the list.

3] Change Registry Value
The next solution on the card is to make some changes in the Registry value. Here are the exact steps you need to follow.
If the TileInfo string is missing, you can create it manually. To do so, right-click on the Drive folder, and select New > String Value. Name the newly created String as TileInfo.
Press the Windows + R shortcut key to open the Run dialogue box.
Type regedit, and press the Enter key. Now navigate to the below location.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive
Double-click on TileInfo to open the Edit String prompt.
Type the below value in the Value data and click on the OK option to save the changes.
prop:*System.PercentFull;System.Computer.DecoratedFreeSpace;System.Volume.FileSystem
Restart your computer and see.

4] Shorten the Volume Label
The problem in the question can occur due to the long volume label. By default, each drive in File Explorer shows three pieces of information – Volume Label, Drive letter, disk space, and some additional information. If the volume label is too long, it will be sent to the next line. It can be another significant reason you cannot see Disk Space Bar. To solve the problem, you will have to shorten the volume of label characters. Here’s how to do it.
- Right-click on the Drive, and choose Rename option.
- Give a shortened name, and press the Enter key.
- Click on Continue on the prompt that pops up.
Hope something here helps you.
