If you have purchased a Microsoft Surface, you should download and use the Trackpad Settings app released by Microsoft. This app will help you easily change the Trackpad’s settings.
Surface Trackpad Settings app
Microsoft Surface keyboards have a Trackpad that you can use as a mouse. This app allows you to choose how the trackpad works on Touch Cover and Type Cover.
You must have the latest Windows Updates installed to ensure that the app detects the keyboard.
If the app does not detect the keyboard for some reason, from the Start screen, type Devices > Settings > Devices and Printers. Then tap Refresh three times (circular arrow next to the Search box). Try using the app again.
The Trackpad Settings app will allow you to toggle four settings:
- Trackpad On/Off
- Tap gestures On/Off
- Scrolling On/Off
- Flip scrolling direction On/Off.
For some strange reason, the app is available only in the US and select markets. Microsoft is probably making it available only in those markets where the Surface is officially available.
