Many programs of Windows now exclude the traditional Menu bar. If you have been a long-time Windows user, you will observe that the Explorer window in Windows 7 has the ‘Menu’ bar hidden.
Explorer menu bar missing in Windows 7
If you wish for this bar to always be displayed on your Explorer screen, follow these steps.
Enable missing Windows File menu bar permanently
To permanently show the classic menu bar on folders, click Organize on the toolbar, point to Layout, and then click Menu Bar.
That’s it!
Follow these steps to enable the menu bar temporarily in Windows 7 Explorer.
Enable Windows Explorer menu bar temporarily
If you do not wish it to be displayed permanently, but only when required, you can use the Alt key. At any time a user can press their Alt key on the keyboard to temporarily display the Window menu bar or a listing of the items that are normally displayed on this bar.
This will allow users to keep the menu bar hidden and only use the bar if and when needed. This will ensure users that they get the familiarity of the classic menu bar in folders back while trying to locate a function or command.
Once you choose a command from any of the menus or press ALT a second time, the menu will disappear automatically.
