If Gmail logs you out immediately after login on your Windows computer, you can use the fixes provided in this article. According to the reports, users signed out of their Gmail accounts immediately after signing in or sometime after signing in. This can be irritating for some users because they have to sign in to Gmail again and again.
Why does Gmail kick me out as soon as I log in?
The most common cause of this issue is the blocked cookies. If you have applied strict privacy settings to your browser, you may experience this issue. The corrupted cache, cookies, and conflicting extensions can also cause this problem.
Gmail logs out immediately after login
If Gmail logs you out immediately after login, use the following suggestions to resolve the issue.
- Make sure that the cookies are turned on
- Open Gmail in Private or Incognito mode
- Disable browser extensions
- Do you have installed Privacy software?
- Disable your antivirus
- Create a new profile
- Use another web browser
- Use an email client
- Uninstall and reinstall your web browser
Below, we have explained all these fixes in detail.
1] Make sure that the cookies are turned on
Your cookies should be enabled. Check this in your web browser’s settings. If the cookies are blocked or you have applied strict privacy settings to your web browser, change the settings.
2] Open Gmail in Private or Incognito mode
The first thing that you should do is open Gmail in Private or Incognito mode. See if Gmail logs you out there. If the issue does not occur in the Private or Incognito mode, your web browser’s cache and cookies can be the culprit. In such a case, clearing the cache and cookies can help.
You can clear cache and cookies by opening the Clear Browsing History window. The shortcut to open this window is Ctrl + Shift + Delete. This shortcut works in almost all web browsers. If this does not help, try clearing your browsing history.
3] Disable browser extensions
Your browser extensions might be causing this problem. You can check this by disabling all your web browser extensions. If the problem disappears after disabling the extensions, one of the extensions is the culprit.
Now, start enabling the extensions one by one. When the issue reappears, the extension that you have just enabled is the culprit.
4] Do you have installed Privacy software?
If you have installed Privacy software, you might be experiencing this issue due to that software. Disable that software (if the option is available) and then check if the issue occurs.
5] Temporarily disable your third-party antivirus
Temporarily disable your antivirus and see if the problem occurs. If this fixes the issue, you need to contact your antivirus support. I experienced a similar type of issue with Gmail. In my case, Gmail won’t load only in Firefox due to the Quick Heal antivirus. Hence, your antivirus might be causing this issue. Some antivirus programs can also delete cookies in web browsers.
You cannot add Gmail as an exception to your antivirus because this can cause the installation of malware through a suspicious email when the Gmail scanner does not work. Hence, the only option is to contact your antivirus support. If you use a free antivirus, you can switch to another one.
6] Create a new profile
A corrupted user profile can be one reason why Gmail logs out immediately after login. To check this, create a new profile or browse as a guest. Login to Gmail in a new profile or the guest profile and see if the issue appears. If the problem does not appear in the new profile, you can continue using that profile and delete the old one.
Before deleting your old profile, make sure that all the bookmarks and extensions are backed up to the cloud. If you use Chrome or Edge, you need to sign in to your Google and Microsoft accounts respectively to start the syncing process.
7] Use another web browser
The problem might be associated with the web browser you are using. Use another web browser and see if the issue occurs there. If Gmail works fine in another web browser, you need to reset the previous web browser. Reset Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or another web browser you are experiencing the issues with.
8] Use an email client
You can also use an email client and add your Gmail account to it. There are a lot of free email clients available online. You can install any of them. The new Outlook app also supports Gmail accounts. Microsoft has already replaced the Mail app with the Outlook app. Hence, if you do not want to install a third-party email client, you can use the Outlook app from Microsoft.
You can also install Gmail as a web app from different browsers like Edge, Chrome, Brave, etc.
9] Uninstall and reinstall your web browser
Uninstalling and reinstalling the affected web browser can fix this issue. Uninstall the web browser via the Control Panel or Windows Settings app, then download its latest version from the official website. Now, install it.
That’s it.
