If you are running ten or fifteen apps simultaneously, they are likely to create a mess on your desktop. But using this freeware called HMV – Hide my Windows you can hide windows of running programs on your Windows desktop. Hide my Windows offers several options to clear the clutter from your screen. Let’s assume that you opened a dozen apps, and you are working on something important, and you cannot close all those running app windows at once. At such times, you can hide the windows of the apps you don’t need, so that you can concentrate on your current work and make some free space in your Taskbar.
Hide running programs on Windows
This tool is primarily built for doing only one job – and that is to hide running programs. However, it offers a couple of more options like-
- Password protect an app so that anyone cannot open it from the tray.
- Close, minimize, maximize the window of any running app.
- Place an app at the desired position with custom height and width.
Let’s assume that, Google Chrome is running, and you want to hide the Google Chrome window from your screen.
To do that, you can select Google Chrome and click the Hide button.
If you want to make the program’s window visible, you can select the program from the list, and click the Show button.
This is the basic way to do it. In case, you want to use a keyboard shortcut; you can press Shift + F1 to hide a window.
If you want to unhide the last hidden window, you need to press Shift + Esc.
As mentioned earlier, you can password-protect tray icons as well. For that, click the Pass-Protect button and enter the desired password.
