Here are the steps to change tab width in Google Chrome on a Windows 11/10 computer:

Open Google Chrome browser
In the Omnibox (or address bar) of Google Chrome, type chrome://flags
Press the Enter key to open the Experiments page
Look for the Tab Scrolling feature manually or use the available search box
For the Tab Scrolling feature or experiment, there is a drop-down menu available, click on that menu and select any of the available options to change tab width. Available options are:
- Enabled- tabs shrink to a medium tab width
- Enabled- tabs don’t shrink (to keep the original width for all opened tabs no matter how many tabs are opened)
- Enabled- tabs shrink to pinned tab width (which happens by default or automatically)
- Enabled- tabs shrink to a large width
After selecting an option, press the Relaunch button.

When you want to keep the default setting for tab width, then simply disable or turn off changing tab width in Chrome using these steps:

Open Chrome browser
Type chrome://flags in the Omnibox (or address box)
Hit the Enter key
Access the Tab Scrolling feature
Open the drop-down menu available next to the Tab Scrolling feature
Select the Default option
Click on the Relaunch button present in the bottom right section.
