Windows 11 has been getting a lot of new features. They are first tested on Insider builds and then expanded to the regular builds of Windows 11. Tabs in File Explorer is one such feature that was first introduced in Insider builds and then added to the regular builds. Now, with Dev Insider build 25272, Microsoft has introduced the Gallery Quick access folder in the File Explorer. How to enable Gallery in File Explorer on Windows 11 right now
If you want to enable the Gallery folder in the Quick Access tab in File Explorer on Windows 11 now, follow these steps.
- Download ViVeTool from GitHub
- Extract the contents of ViVeTool
- Copy the path to the ViVeTool folder
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator
- Open the ViVeTool folder in the Command Prompt
- Type the command to enable Gallery in File Explorer
- Restart your PC
Let’s get into the details of the process and enable Gallery in File Explorer using ViVeTool on Windows 11.
Open a web browser on your PC and go to GitHub to download the ViVeTool zip file from GitHub. After downloading the ViVeTool, extract it. Then, click on the address bar of the folder to select the path and copy it.
Click on the Start menu and type cmd. Then, click on Run as administrator under the Command Prompt search result in the Start menu. Once the Command Prompt window is open, type cd and paste the path to the ViVeTool folder you have copied earlier and press Enter.
For example: cd C:\Users\mrpab\Downloads\ViVeTool-v0.3.2
It will open the ViVeTool folder in the Command Prompt. Then, copy/paste the following command and press Enter to enable the Gallery in File Explorer on your Windows 11 PC.
vivetool /enable /id:41040327
You will see the Successfully set feature configuration(s) message. After that restart your PC to affect the changes. You can see the Gallery folder added to the Quick Access tab in the File Explorer.
If you do not like the Gallery feature, you can disable it using a simple command. You need to open the ViVeTool folder in the Command Prompt and then use the following command.
vivetool /disable /id:41040327
