As a side note, Shimeji is also a group of eatable mushrooms that are native to East Asia and northern Europe. They are primarily found in Japanese dishes and are said to contain several health benefits.

1] Download and install Java
The first thing to do is to ensure that Java is downloaded and installed on your computer. If you haven’t done this already, then let us explain what needs to be done.
Begin by opening your favorite web browser.
From there, navigate directly to the official Java download page.
Look to the bottom for the Download Java button and click on it.
After downloading and installing Java, you may have to restart your web browser.
2] Download and install Shimeji
The next step after installing Java is to download and install the Shimeji app. The app contains all that is needed, so there is nothing to worry about.
To begin, navigate to the official website at Kilkakon.com.
After that, click on Software at the bottom, then from the next page, select the Shimeji download button.
After downloading, please extract the files from the .zip folder.
Next, you must open the single .jar file within the extracted folder to install Shimeji on your computer.
Right away you will see the pet moving around on your screen.
3] Interact with Shimeji
When it comes down to interacting with your virtual pet, simply click and hold the mouse cursor on the Shimeji, then drag it anywhere on the screen. Additionally, you can right-click on the pet to Dismiss one or more, set behaviors, pause animation, and more.
4] Download new Shimeji
If you’re not into the default Shimeji, it is possible to add others to your computer display. All you have to do is visit the Shimeji section via Deviant Art. Download any options from the gallery, then run it in the same manner as the original.
We cannot guarantee that these custom creations will work just as well, but they are unique and more appealing to the eyes, so take the time out to give them a test drive.

What is the alternative to the Shimeji app?
The best alternative to the Shimeji app is one known as My Tamagotchi Forever. The problem is, no version for Windows exists, so you will have to make do with iOS and Android unless the developers choose to support Windows in the future.
Does Shimeji only work on Chrome?
The Shimeji extension, for now, is only available for Chromium web browsers, which include Microsoft Edge, Brave, Chrome, and others.
