Are you the type of person to download several extensions when using Chrome, Edge, or Firefox? It sure can be tempting to do this, seeing as the extension store is filled with excellent tools. However, having multiple extensions installed will likely transform your toolbar into a colossal mess. Worry not because we’ve figured out a way to make this problem disappear in this air. It would be as if it weren’t there in the first place.
The trick here won’t require uninstalling the add-ons since we know their importance. The thing is, not all add-ons involves a lot of physical attention. For example, if you choose to block trackers with the DuckDuckGo extension, just download the extension, and it will automatically do its job without needing your interaction.
When an extension can do this, why should it take up space on the toolbar? From our point of view, there is no need for this. Therefore, in a bid to keep the taskbar as clean as possible, we are going to discuss how to remove extension icons.
Move or hide extension icons on Firefox toolbar
The first step to make here is to open your version of the Firefox web browser. We hope you have the latest one installed since it comes with improved security. After doing that, right-click on the toolbar, then select Customize.
From the Customize menu, you can drag and drop extension icons at will. If you want to remove one from the toolbar, drag it down to the list area. This will not disable the extension but rather remove it from the taskbar to deliver space for more important things or to get rid of clutter.
If you want to add an extension to the toolbar, drag it from the list area and drop it on the taskbar, and that should do it.
When you are finished with organizing your extension icons, click the button that reads Done to complete this section of the task.
Not everyone has the time to go through the above process. To quickly remove an extension icon from the toolbar, simply right-click on the icon, then select Remove from Toolbar to get rid of it.
If you want to get it back, follow the steps above to get to the Customize section and re-add the extension icon.
Remove or add extension icons in Google Chrome
When it comes down to Google Chrome, this task is a little bit different, but the idea is the same.
You see, when an extension is installed, it will either show up on the toolbar or in the extensions folder located on the toolbar. If the extension goes to the folder, click on the icon, then from the dropdown menu, you should see a list of all of your extensions.
To add the extension to the toolbar, click on the Pin icon beside the preferred extension. If it turns to blue, then it has been added. If it turns to grey, then you’ve removed it from the toolbar.
Another way to remove an extension icon is to right-click on the icon, then select Unpin. This is the easiest way to get the job done.
TIP: You can also remove the Extensions button or Puzzle icon from Chrome toolbar.
Remove browser extension icons from Microsoft Edge toolbar
OK, so this one is pretty straightforward, so anyone should be able to do it without a lot of problems.
In order to remove the extension icon from Microsoft Edge, please right-click on the extension icon, then select Move to the menu. Once this is done, the icon will disappear but can be seen again if you click on the menu icon, the three-dotted button at the browser’s top-right corner.
Conclusion
As we can see, the task of hiding the browser extension icon from all three major web browsers is straightforward. Firefox gives more options, but overall, a job well done to all.
