Apart from the above-mentioned uses, Beacon bases made out of a pyramid of Obsidian, along with other materials, and Ender chests, made out of 8 Obsidian blocks, are some of the other utilities. How to Mine Obsidian in Minecraft
Following are some of the methods through which we can mine Obsidian in Minecraft:
- With a Diamond or Netherite pickaxe
- With the help of Lava only
- With the help of Nether portals
Let’s get started with these methods and create loads of Obsidian.
1] With a Diamond or Netherite pickaxe
The first and foremost thing before making Obsidian is to gather things and tools. Diamond pickaxe and Netherite pickaxe are the only two tools that can do it. In this method, we are using the Diamond pickaxe to mine the Obsidian.
To craft a diamond pickaxe, users are required to have 3 diamonds and two sticks. They can then use the crafting table to assemble it. Once done, locate a substantial lava pool in the terrain, and employ the diamond pickaxe to transform all of them into Obsidian at once. It is quite necessary to alleviate the water pressure by creating a barrier on one side of the pool. Gradually pour the water over the lava and close the newly formed Obsidian within a fenced.
2] Via the natural interaction of lava and water blocks
In Minecraft, when a stationary lava block comes in contact with water blocks, Obsidians are formed naturally. However, we can procure this procedure manually by simply finding a large pool of lava. And these can be found in caves, ravines, bottom layers of the terrain, and so on.
Once found, dig up a hole, making sure that it is completely flammable-free. Then use 3 iron ingots for creating buckets so that you can scoop up some stationary lava and pour it into the hole. Now, finally, scoop the water and pour it over the lava to turn it into Obsidian.
3] With the help of Nether Portals
To make a nether portal, 10 Obsidian blocks are required; since, we are going to make two of them, 20 should be with the player. Now, to make a nether portal, place the Obsidian blocks in a 5 tall*4 wide arrangement, and activate them using flint, and steel on the lowest Obsidian block. However, take care of having no portal near otherwise, creating them won’t be possible.
Travel through the Nether carefully, and travel a minimum distance of at least 19 blocks. Now, create a new Nether portal here, and this way, you’ll reach a new portal in the overworld. Once there, take the available Obsidian and use it. To get more of these, users can set the spawn near the permanent overworld portal with a bed and chest near the temporary overworld portal. This way, you can get free Obsidian.
