1] Pin Office documents on a Computer
Let us see how you can pin an Office document be it Excel, Word, or PowerPoint. We can simply pin a document by going to File > Open > Recent (After clicking the File tab, you may come across a section labeled “Recent”). Then, hover over the file you want to pin and click on the Pin icon, alternatively, right-click on the file and select Pin to list.
You can also pin a document to your taskbar. To do the same, follow the steps mentioned below.
- Pin Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint app(s) to your taskbar.
- Pin the file to the taskbar
- Open the file from the taskbar
First of all, we need to pin the app you want to open the file of. To do the same, hit Win + S, type “Word/Excel/PowerPoint” (you need to type either of the three), once the app icon appears, click on the down arrow (v), and then select Pin to taskbar.
Now, if you want to pin the file to the taskbar, just open the file in MS Word (Excel or PowerPoint). This will make sure that the file is moved to Recent. You can then right-click on the Word (Excel or PowrePoint) icon present on the taskbar and there you will be able to see the file. If you want to keep it there always, right-click on the file and select Pin to the list.

2] Pin Office documents on Mobile or Tablets
The steps to pin a document in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint will be the same. So, you can just follow the steps mentioned below if you want to pin a document.
Pin a document to the top of the list
- Open Excel, Word, or PowerPoint.
- Go to File > Open > Recent.
- Now, from the Recent section, tap on the three dots associated with that file and select Pin
Pin a document to your home screen
- Navigate to File > Open > Recent.
- Tap on the three dots associated with the file you want to pin.
- Select Add to Home Screen from the list.
This will do the job for you.

How do I pin a document in Excel?
It is pretty simple to pin a document in Excel. You need to go to File > Open > Recent. Now, you need to navigate to the file you want to pin, either, click on the Pin icon or right-click on the file and select Pin. This will do the trick for you.
