How to remove background from image in Canva
To remove image background using Canva, follow these steps:
- Open the Canva website and log in to your account.
- Click the Create a design button and choose the Edit photo option.
- Upload the desired image.
- Click on the Edit photo button.
- Click on the image and select the Edit image option.
- Click on the Background Remover option.
- Let it finish and click the Apply button.

At first, you need to open Canva’s official website and log in to your account. Then, click on the Create a design button visible on the top-right corner and select the Edit photo option.

Why Canva cannot remove the background?
There could be multiple reasons why you can’t remove the background from an image using Canva. The Background Remover (or BG Remover) feature is present in Canva for Education, Canva Pro, Canva for Nonprofit users, and Canva for Teams only, and not in the free plan. Also, in 24 hours, you can remove background from up to 500 images. You must upload the supported images only (say JPG, PNG, etc.). In addition to that, the uploaded image size should be under 9MB. If any of these conditions are not met, you won’t be able to remove the image background.
How do I add a background in Canva after removing the background?
Using Canva, you can add a gradient background, solid color background, and image background. In the editor side panel, click the Background option. If you want to add a solid color background, then select a color tile. For a gradient background, search for gradient using the search bar, and then click on any of the search results. For adding an image background, upload an image and add it to your design, right-click the image, and either select Replace Background or Image as Background option.
