The Up and Down arrows in the Windows 11 taskbar are there because multiple application icons are pinned to the Taskbar, and instead of showing all of them, Windows has a Taskbar Corner Icon Overflow area where it hides the icons. If you do not like this behavior and want to hide the Up/Down arrows to show all the system icons, then you can do so. In this post, I will explain how to remove the Up/Down arrow in the Taskbar and show all icons.
How to remove Up/Down arrows in the Taskbar and show all icons
If you want to remove the Up/Down arrows in the Taskbar of Windows 11 and show all icons, you can do so via Windows Settings or Drag and Drop.
- Using Windows Settings
- Using Drag and Drop
Let us take a look at each of them in detail.
1] Using Windows Settings
Taskbar.
Expand the Taskbar corner overflow section.
Toggle the app buttons to show them.” width=”700″ height=”473″>
To remove the Up/Down arrows in the Taskbar on Windows 11, follow these steps:
- Press Win+I to open Windows Settings.
- Go to Personalization > Taskbar.
- Expand the Other system tray icons section.
- Set the toggle for Hidden icon menu to the OFF position.
- The Up/Down arrow will disappear.
In this case, however, you will not be able to access the hidden icons. It will not show all the icons. So you may use this method only when you want to hide icons you rarely use.

2] Using Drag and Drop
This would be the easiest way to do so. Simply drag and drop each icon from the icon overflow area into the taskbar. Once all the icons are displayed, the Up/Down arrow will disappear.
To hide some icons, just drag them to the left side and the arrow will appear. Then you can drop the icon to hide it.
If you have many icons to show, then you may have to shift the Start button to the left side by changing the Taskbar alignment from Center to Left or display a smaller Taskbar instead of the default size to make it display smaller icons.
