How to change a Password for a Printer in Windows 11
I have shown the steps to set the password for a printer in Windows 11/10 for the following brands:
- Brother
- HP
- Epson
- Samsung
- Canon
- Xerox

1] Change password for Brother printer
To change the default password of your Brother printer, follow the steps provided below:
- Turn on your Brother printer and your computer.
- Connect it with your computer.
- Now, open a web browser on your computer and type your Brother printer’s IP address in the address bar. After that, hit Enter. To find your Brother printer’s IP address, refer to its user manual.
- You will see the Status page of your Brother printer (refer to the screenshot above).
- Type the password of your printer and click Login. This is the default password (your printer’s serial number). After that, expand the Administrator tab on the left side and click on the Login Password option.
A new page will open where you can enter the new password. Enter the same password in the Confirm New Password field. When you are done, click Submit to save the new password.
2] Change printer password for HP printers
The following steps will help you set a password for your HP printer on Windows. The easiest way to do this is to use the HP Smart app, which is available for iPhones and Android Smartphones. Go to the App Store and the Google Play Store (depending on your phone) and install the HP Smart app.
Now, follow the steps provided below:
- Turn on your printer.
- Connect your printer to your WiFi network. Your phone should also be connected to the same WiFi network. Now, add your printer to your phone.
- Now, open the HP Smart app and select your printer.
- Scroll down and tap on the Advanced Settings option.
- A new page will open in the default web browser on your phone. When the page is loaded, tap on Settings.
- Now, tap on Security.
- Now, tap on Password Settings.
- Now, you have to enter your printer’s default PIN. The default PIN is mentioned on the sticker on the printer. Look for it.
- After entering the PIN, tap on Submit. Now, enter your password and click Apply.
3] Change password for Epson printer
To set a password for your Epson printer on Windows, follow the instructions mentioned below:
- Turn on your printer and connect it to your WiFi network. Connect your computer to the same WiFi network.
- After that, open your web browser on a computer and enter the IP address of your network router in the address bar. Hit Enter after that.
- The Epson login page will appear.
- Click on the Administrator Login button.
- Enter the default password. The serial number of your printer is the default password.
- Now, expand the System Settings or Administrator Settings option on the left side and then click on the desired option to set a new password for your Epson printer.
4] Samsung printer Change password
All Samsung network printers come with a built-in SyncThru Web Service. This service manages the Samsung network printer settings. The default username for SyncThru Web Service is admin and the default password is sec0000. For the older models of Samsung network printers, the default password is 1111.
Go through the following instructions to set a password for your Samsung printer on Windows PC:
- Open a web browser on your computer and enter the IP address of your printer in the address bar. Hit Enter after that.
- You will see the SyncThru Web Service page. Click Login.
- Enter your user ID and password. Click Login.
- The option to change the password will appear automatically if needed.
- Change the password and save changes.
5] Change password for Canon printer
The following steps will guide you on how to change the password of your Canon printer on Windows 11/10:
- Open a web browser on your Windows computer.
- Enter your Canon printer’s IP address in the web browser’s address bar. Hit Enter after that.
- Sign in to the web server by entering the default password. The default password is the serial number of your printer.
- Now, click on the Security option on the left side.
- Click Administrator Password Settings. After that, click Change administrator password.
- Enter the new password and save the changes.
6] Change password for Xerox printer
The following instructions will help you change the password of your Xerox printer on Windows:
- First, turn on your Xerox printer and connect it to your network.
- Now, connect your computer to the same WiFi network.
- Access the Xerox printer web server by entering its IP address in the address bar of your web browser.
- Enter the login credentials to log in on the Xerox printer web server Home page. You must enter the password here. The default password is either your printer’s serial number or 1111.
- Click Permissions.
- Select the username the password of which you want to change.
- Click Change password and type the new password.
- Retype the new password and click OK to save changes.
Your Xerox printer default password has been changed.
What is the Epson admin username and password?
The default Epson administrator password is the serial number of the Epson printer. If this does not work, try entering 0000 using the Remote Control. If you have entered the incorrect password too often and see a message displaying the code, write down that code and contact Epson support.
