The This PC folder in Windows 11/10 displays your basic hard drives by default. But if you want to show all the drives, including empty ones, like a memory card reader, in your Windows File Explorer, you can do so as follows.

To show all Drives in This PC folder of Windows 11/10, do the folowing:
- Launch Explorer
- Open Folder & Search options
- Select View tab
- Locate Advanced settings
- Uncheck Hide empty drives in the Computer folder
- Click Apply > OK.
All drives will now always be visible on your Windows 11/10 PC.
If you wish to reverse the changes, simply check the option and click on Apply again.
This option is there in Windows 8.1 too, where you can show all hidden drives too in the This PC folder.
How do I list available drives?
To list available drives on a Windows PC, use the WMIC command. Open Command Prompt, type wmic logicaldisk get name
, and press Enter.
Why are my drives not showing in File Explorer?
If your drives are not showing in File Explorer, it might be due to loose cables, outdated drivers, or incorrect drive settings. First, check the physical connections, then update or reinstall the drivers. Additionally, ensure the drive is enabled in Disk Management and check for any BIOS settings that might hide it.
