With the increasing usage of the internet, it is getting even more important and difficult for parents to keep an eye on their kids’ browsing habits. For the past two years, kids have been taking their online classes and thus parents have to leave them with the machines. We don’t know what our kids are browsing over the internet or what they are facing, and this can be dangerous. The major problem today is the overflow of information on the web. Plus, there is no age criterion to visit any website. All you get is a check box asking you if you are 18 years old or not. All information is freely available for everyone and this is alarming.
KidRex Safe Search Engine for Kids
There are many such programs available on the web that let parents have control over their kids’ internet usage and browsing hours but today, in this post, we are going to talk about a special search engine for kids. KidRex, is the search engine I am talking about. It is a free search engine for kids by Alarms.org. Let’s learn how this search engine is helpful for parents to keep their children safe on the internet.
Click on the Parents link on the homepage to see the features of KidRex. They have a link for the Tips for Online Safety of your kids. Do check it thoroughly. I will add the page link at the end of this post. Do not forget to check that.
KidRex is a safe search engine for kids with some fun elements in it. This search engine is powered by Google Custom Search but brings only the kid-relevant search results from across the web using the Google SafeSearch technology. The technology filters the keywords, phrases, and URLs to remove the explicit sexual content from your child’s search results. No filter is 100% safe but removes almost every inappropriate result from your kids’ searches. Additionally, KidRex has its own database of inappropriate words and websites to reduce the possibility of displaying unsuitable search results for kids. If a child uses any of such words in the KidRex search engine, it returns with an ‘Oops, try again’ message.
KidRex Webpage Removal Request Tool
Even after all the filters, if you ever see an inappropriate search result in KidRex, you can request the removal of that particular webpage. Click on the Parents tab on the home page and then click on the Webpage Removal Request Tool. Fill in the details of the webpage you want to exclude from your child’s search results and submit.
Overall, KidRex is a nice, simple, and useful free search engine for your kids. You can rest assured that your kids won’t land on any of the inappropriate web pages while using KidRex. And if you still find any of such web pages, you can get them removed using the Webpage Removal Request Tool.
