1] Restart your computer
There is a possibility that your HP laptop sound is not working on a Windows PC due to temporary glitches. Restarting your computer can fix temporary glitches. Restart your computer and check if it brings any changes.
2] Run the Audio troubleshooter
The built-in Audio troubleshooter of Windows PC can fix several audio issues. You can run the Audio Troubleshooter by using the Get Help app. This troubleshooter is an automated app that will help you resolve the issue. Once you launch it, you will be asked some questions. Select the right answer based on the issue you are experiencing.
3] Run Audio Check in HP Support Assistant
If the Audio troubleshooter does not fix the issue. You can also run the Audio check in the HP Support Assistant. HP offers an application called HP Support Assistant that can diagnose and fix audio and laptop issues. To do so, use the below steps:
- On your HP Windows search type HP Support Assistant and open it.
- Click on the My Dashboard tab and click Fixes & Diagnostics.
- Click on the Fix audio issues. Click Next, and wait until the audio test is complete.

If updating the Sound controller driver does not fix the issue. You can also try reinstalling the audio driver, based on the manufacturer, like the Realtek audio driver. To do so use the following instructions:
- Go to the Device Manager.
- Expand the Sound, video and game controllers.
- Select your Sound controller device and right-click on the Sound controller driver.
- Click on Uninstall device.

6] Disable Audio enhancement
