An overextended pause while transitioning from one presentation to another can ruin your work. Linking the two together will not only help you save valuable time but also make the transition process seamless. So, here’s a tutorial describing how to link one PowerPoint presentation to another in Microsoft PowerPoint.
Link one PowerPoint presentation to another
It is difficult to find oneself in a rare period of fortune and grace. So, it is better to have little or no dependency on luck. Whenever you are planning to link one PowerPoint presentation to another, make sure that both presentations are in the same folder. Once you have ensured this, proceed as follows.
- Use the Action button as a tool to connect the presentation
- Access ‘Hyperlink to’ option under ‘Action Settings’
- Add Hyperlink to slide.
As mentioned, make all necessary slide presentation files accessible from the same computer. As a best practice, save them to the hard drive or local flash drive.
1] Use Action button as a tool to connect the PowerPoint presentation
As you can see in the image above, Activation Function is the keyword where we would like to link the two presentations.
So, select the keyword and go to ‘Insert’ tab on the Ribbon menu. There, locate the ‘Actions’ button and when found, select it.
2] Access ‘Hyperlink to’ option under ‘Action Settings in
PowerPoint
Now, when the ‘Action Settings’ box pops up, select the ‘Hyperlink To’ option.
When checked, you’ll get access to the drop-down menu underneath it. Here’ select ‘Other PowerPoint Presentation’ option.
3] Add Hyperlink to slide in PowerPoint
This option will allow you to browse through File Explorer and select the presentation you want to link to. Click the ‘OK’ button.
At this point, you’ll see a list of the slides from the presentation you’re linking to. Simply choose the slide that you’d like to link to and hit the ‘OK’ button.
The action when confirmed will let you see the file path of the second presentation instantly under the ‘Hyperlink To’ box. Hit ‘Ok’ again.
Once done, your hyperlink will be inserted in the selected text. To verify this, hover your mouse cursor over the text or object, and the file path will appear.
Now, whenever you open the PowerPoint in presentation mode, click the hyperlinked text or object to experience a seamless transition from the first presentation to the next.
Likewise, you can chain together as many presentations as you desire.
If necessary, you can also create index slides that link to all of the presentations so you can easily find the one you want.
