IRST or Intel Rapid Storage Technology is developed by Intel for computers running on Windows operating systems. It offers greater levels of performance and reliability to the computers equipped with SATA or PCIe drives. When you are using one or multiple Serial ATA (SATA ) or PCIe drives, you can take advantage of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology in order to get enhanced performance and low power consumption. To use Intel RST, you have to install its compatible driver on your computer. But some users are unable to install it. According to them, when they try to install the IRST driver, they receive the “This platform is not supported” error message. In this article, we will see what you can do to fix this error.
Intel Rapid Storage Technology platform is not supported
Below, we have listed some solutions to fix this error. But before you begin, we suggest you check your system requirements. If your system does not support IRST, trying the solutions listed below is a waste of time for you. In addition to the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems, the following Windows OS are supported by the Intel Rapid Storage Platform:
- Windows 8, 32-bit
- Windows 8, 64-bit
- Windows 7, 32-bit
- Windows 7, 64-bit
- Windows Server 2008 R2
- Windows Server 2012
- Windows Server 2016
Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016 are not supported on mobile platforms. In addition to this, your system should have at least one Serial ATA or SATA hard drive.
Apart from the above requirements, your system should have a supported chipset and controller hub. You can read the complete list of supported chipset and controller hubs on Intel’s official website, intel.com.
Try the following fixes to get this issue resolved:
- Switch to stable build from Insider
- Check whether you are installing the right driver for your architecture
- Download the latest version of IRST from the vendor’s website
- Download the latest driver from Intel Download Center
Let’s see all these solutions in detail.
1] Switch to stable build from Insider
If you are using the Insider build of Windows 11/10, switch to the stable build and then try to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. This should fix the problem.
