Various services out in the market promise to connect people in real-time over a network through multiple devices. Microsoft Teams is a new offering in this domain. It helps you readily connect with people in an instant via a video call. However, before this, you have to set the meeting up. How to set up and join a Microsoft Teams Meeting
- First, launch Microsoft Teams app.
- To start a team meeting, select the ‘Video/meeting’ icon as shown in the screenshot.
- Alternatively, if you are chatting with a person, invite him for a meeting by choosing the meeting icon from within the existing conversation.
- You’ll quickly understand if a team meeting is taking place when you see encircled individuals in a channel, as shown in the screenshot below.
- The channel will instantly display a preview of any content uploaded by the individuals.
- You will also see a list of persons who have joined the meeting. If you chose to scroll out the meeting from the conversation view, you’ll receive a notification on the channel.

In addition to the above, you can join from within a conversation. For instance, if you’re working under a different channel and you find that your messages aren’t displaying, you can choose to join a meeting from a notification that appears in the upper right corner of your Desktop screen. You’ll see a notification that you’ve been invited to a meeting. You can then join directly from there.

How do you schedule a Teams meeting and send an invite?
For scheduling a meeting, look for the Meetings button. Clicking on it will let Microsoft Teams list all your currently scheduled meetings. Simply click “Schedule Meeting” to set a time for the meeting.
Now, while conducting a meeting, if you would like to share your Desktop screen, simply click the ‘Screen’ icon. The icon allows users to share their screens. It is by far, the most convenient method to see what someone is presenting. To share your screen in a meeting or view someone else’s screen, just click on the icon and you are good to go.
A special feature of Microsoft Teams is that when you whenever you click away from a meeting, a call monitor will appear. It will allow you to join back the meeting in an instant when you click on it.
