If your OneDrive account contains confidential files and you want to protect it with a passcode, you can follow these steps. We show you how to lock OneDrive with a Password, Touch ID, or Face ID on the iPad without installing any third-party application.
OneDrive is a popular cloud storage service, and countless people use it to store documents, images, videos, etc. If your storage contains some private files that no one should access, you can lock down the entire OneDrive app. The good news is that OneDrive uses a separate password for protection purposes, and you need to set it differently. You cannot unlock OneDrive with the password you use to unlock your device. However the Touch ID and Face ID would remain the same for both – OneDrive and for unlocking your device unlock.
Lock OneDrive with Password, Touch ID, Face ID on iPad
To lock your OneDrive account on iPad using a Password, Touch ID or a Face ID, follow these steps-
- Open the OneDrive app on your device and tap on the profile picture.
- Select Settings from the menu.
- Go to Passcode settings.
- Toggle the Require Passcode button.
- Enter a four-digit passcode.
- Make sure the Unlock with Touch ID/Face ID option is enabled.
Let’s delve into the steps to know more.
First, open the OneDrive app on your iPad and tap on your profile picture, which is visible in the top-left corner. Now, tap on the Settings button.
Following that, head to the Security section and tap on the Passcode option.
Then, toggle the Require Passcode button to turn it on, and enter a four-digit passcode that you want to use to unlock the cloud storage.
After setting up the passcode, you should see another option called Unlock with Touch ID. You can toggle this button to unlock OneDrive with Touch ID. Similarly, you can see Unlock with Face ID, if your device does support. If you do not enable this option, you need to enter the passcode whenever you want to unlock the OneDrive app on your device.
If you want to change the passcode due to any reason, these steps will let you do that.
At first, you need to open up the OneDrive’s Settings page, as mentioned earlier in this article. After visiting the Passcode section, you can see the Change Passcode option. Tap on it, enter your current passcode, and set a new one, respectively.
