Microsoft Edge Workspaces is a great way to separate your personal web browsing experience from the professional web browsing experience. You can create as many Workspaces in Edge as you want. To access or manage your workspaces, click on the Workspaces icon available just next to your profile icon on the top left side. However, if Microsoft Edge Workspaces are not working and you get the following error message, the solutions provided in this article will help you.
Error: Unable to load workspaces
Microsoft Edge Workspaces not working
Use the following solutions if the Microsoft Edge Workspaces are not working on your Windows 11/10 computer. Before you proceed, we suggest you update Edge to the latest version. You can do so by opening the About Microsoft Edge page in its settings. Edge will automatically check and install the update (if available).
- Sign out and sign in again
- Install an Insider Channel of Edge
- Clear cache and cookies
- Reset Edge
We have provided all these fixes in detail below. But before you begin, we suggest you click on the Retry button and see if Edge loads Workspaces this time. You can also try relaunching Edge.
1] Sign out and sign in again
Sometimes, problems occur due to syncing issues. We suggest you sign out of Edge and then sign in again. You will not lose your workspaces and tabs opened in the workspaces. Follow the steps provided below:
- Open Edge Settings by clicking on the three dots on the top right side.
- Select the Profiles category from the left side.
- Click on the Sign out button next to your profile icon on the right pane.
- Close Edge, wait for a few minutes and open it again.
Now, sign in to Edge with your Microsoft account. You should be able to load your workspaces this time. I also experienced this issue. When I signed out and signed in again, the issue was fixed.
2] Install an Insider Channel of Edge
You can also install the Insider Channel of Edge. Edge is available in the following three Insider Channels:
- Beta
- Dev
- Canary
You can install any of these Insider Channels and log in with the same Microsoft account you have used in the stable version of Edge. When you sign in to the Microsoft Edge Insider Channel with the same Microsoft account, all your bookmarks and other data including the workspaces will be synced automatically.
Now, you can use that Insider Channel. You can also try opening the stable version of Edge and see if the workspaces start working there.
3] Clear cache and cookies
Corrupted cache and cookies can also cause issues on a web browser. We suggest you clear the cache and cookies of Microsoft Edge and see if it works. You can launch the Clear browsing data window by pressing the Ctrl + Shift + Delete keys in Edge.
4] Reset Edge
If the problem still persists, we suggest you reset the Edge browser. This action will restore all the settings to default. Your new tab page and search engine will also reset to the default. Your bookmarks will not be deleted.
That’s it. I hope this helps.
