If the Repair option is greyed out in Outlook, use the following fixes to resolve the issue.

1] What is your account type?

It is important to know what type of Outlook account you are using. This is because the Repair option is not available if you are using an Exchange account. Microsoft has mentioned it on the official website:

The Repair option isn’t available if you’re using Outlook 2019/16 to connect to an Exchange account.

I am using Outlook 2019 and found that the Repair option is also greyed out in it. This means that Microsoft has also disabled the Repair option for Exchange accounts in other versions of Outlook. You can check the type of Outlook account you are using by opening the account settings.

Follow the steps provided below:

Open Outlook.
Go to “File > Account Settings > Account Settings.”
The type of your Outlook account is mentioned under the Email tab.

2] Run the Microsoft Inbox Repair Tool

You can also repair your corrupted profile by using the Microsoft Inbox Repair Tool. You can launch this tool via the SCANPST exe file.

This file is located at any one of the following locations in File Explorer:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16

Open the File Explorer, paste the above paths in the address bar, and then hit Enter. In the above path, you may find another folder in place of Office16 depending on the version of Microsoft Office installed on your system.

3] Run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant Tool

Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant Tool helps resolve the issues associated with the Office 365 apps, including Word, Outlook, Excel, etc. This tool can fix various issues with Outlook like Outlook won’t start, Outlook keeps asking for a password, etc.

4] Create a new profile

You can try creating a new profile in Outlook and see if it helps. Follow the steps provided below:

Open Outlook.
Go to “File > Account Settings > Manage Profiles.”
Select Show Profiles.
Click on Add and enter the name of your new profile.
Enter your email address and set up your account in the new profile.

5] Repair Microsoft Office

If you cannot repair your Outlook profile, you can repair Microsoft Office. Open Settings on your Windows 11/10 computer and go to the Installed apps page. Now, search for the Microsoft Office application. Once you find it, click on it and select Modify. You will see the repair options there. Run an Online Repair.

6] Uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office

If the issue persists, we suggest you uninstall the Microsoft Office application and then reinstall it. Before uninstalling Microsoft Office, note down your license key because you will need it to activate Microsoft Office at the time of installation.
