Reddit is one of the largest social networking websites in the world. The forum has been online for a long time. However, it has gained popularity recently. Nonetheless, users have reported multiple issues with the website/app. One such case is with Reddit search not working.

At times, you might not get appropriate results for the search times, and in other instances, you might not get any search results at all. Some of the common causes of this error are as follows:

1. Reddit search is not as good as Google or BIng, and thus, you might not get the desired results.
2. Issues with Reddit’s servers. This is especially true if you do not get appropriate results for common keywords.
3. Filters set on Reddit search. The filters are usually hidden (unlike for Google search).
4. Adblockers might be preventing the search.

1] Remove any adblocker from the browser and system

Adblockers in the form of browser add-ons, at times, slow down websites and hinder their functionality. They are the primary reason for the issue in discussion. Uninstall them and see if this makes the Reddit Search work, before moving to any other solution.

2] Issues with Reddit’s servers

Reddit’s servers might not always be up. If the server is down or slagging, you might experience issues with the Reddit search. You can check the uptime for Reddit on their website, which details the uptime.

3] Disable the filters

Disabling the filters (or modifying them) would give you an approach to a wider variety of search results. The procedure to disable the filters is as follows:

On reddit.com, click on the downward pointing arrow corresponding to your user profile. Select User Settings.

Go to the Feed Settings tab.

Change the settings as desired by you.

If you are searching through subreddits, you might consider extending the search period. By default, the results are from the past 24 hours. You can change it to one year or all time.

4] Use Google search instead of Reddit search

You aren’t alone if you think Reddit search doesn’t give relevant results. I have never found it satisfactory. You could use Google search to search for results on Reddit. Simply type <search term> Reddit on Google or Bing and hit Enter.
