If you use Facebook, you must have noticed the error. Sorry, something went wrong, We are working on getting this fixed as soon as we can. This error usually appears at the login screen, but you may face it while trying to load new tabs after logging in as well.
Facebook Sorry, something went wrong
The issue could be faulty cookies and cache, incorrect login data, harmful extensions, Facebook server problems, and Facebook permissions. To isolate the cases, try opening Facebook in a different browser and log in. If it works fine with another browser, the issue is specific to the original browser. Else wait for a while and try again.
If Facebook is not letting you log in due to denied permissions, you might not be able to log in at all. If the issue is with the server, the service will work after a while.
- Hard reload the webpage
- Delete browser cache and cookies
- Remove problematic extensions from your browsers.
In case the Facebook login error “Sorry, something went wrong” is browser-specific, try the following troubleshooting sequentially.
1] Hard reload the web page
To hard refresh the Facebook page, press the Ctrl+F5 keys and see if it helps.
2] Delete browser cache and cookies
The browser cache and cookies store information offline. While this information helps in loading further sessions of the associated web pages faster, if corrupt, they could prevent the web page from loading. The same could happen for Facebook.
Here’s the procedure to delete cache and cookies from Microsoft Edge.
The procedure to delete cache and cookies from Firefox is as follows:
Click on the Library button and select History > Clear recent history.
In the Clear all history window, check the boxes associated with Cache and Cookies.
Select time range as Everything.
Click on Clear now to clear the cache files and cookies.
The procedure to delete cache and cookies from Google Chrome is as follows:
Open the address chrome://settings/clearBrowserData in Google Chrome’s address bar.
Select time range as All time and check the boxes for Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
Click on Clear data to clear the files.
3] Remove problematic extensions from your browsers
Problematic extensions can also cause the Facebook login error “Sorry, something went wrong.” To verify this case, try opening your browser in private browsing mode. In case you are prompted, don’t select the option to activate the extensions.
If Facebook works fine in private browsing mode, you can remove problematic extensions, especially those associated with Facebook.
Why does my Facebook say unexpected error?
It usually happens when your network gets interrupted. If the device switches between mobile and wifi or the network disappear suddenly, this error shows up. Make sure to have a stable connection when using Facebook.
Why does Facebook not let me log in?
There can only be two reasons. There is a problem with your account i.e. incorrect password, policy violation, or the old data i.e. cache needs to be cleared. Once you clear them, it will remove all account-related data, and you will have to start all over again.
How do you contact Facebook?
If you need to get in touch with Facebook regarding your account or page, then the best place is their Help and Support page. The page supports account settings, login and password, privacy and security, marketplace, groups, and pages. If you need to report abuse or hacked and fake account, there is a dedicated section for that too.
I hope it helps!
