Some users have complained that the Startup apps are not showing in the Settings app of their Windows 11/10 PC. They can access and use the Startup apps section in the Task Manager. But the Startup page is missing in the Settings app because of which they can’t access and manage their startup apps. Resetting the Settings app and other common options doesn’t work for users to solve this problem.
Startup Apps not showing in Settings app of Windows 11
If the Startup apps page is not showing in the Settings app of your Windows 11 PC, use these solutions:
- Check the Settings Page Visibility in the Group Policy Editor
- Restore or fix the Startup page Registry entries.
Let’s check these fixes.
1] Check the Settings Page Visibility in the Group Policy Editor
In the Group Policy Editor window, there’s a Settings Page Visibility setting that can be configured to hide all the settings pages or specify a list of settings pages to hide or show. If this setting includes an entry to hide the Startup page, this is the reason why you can’t access that page in Windows Settings. Now you know the cause of this problem, use the following steps to solve it:
- Press the Win+R hotkey to open the Run Command box
- Type gpedit.msc and hit Enter to open the Group Policy Editor window
- Navigate to the following path:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel
- Look for the Settings Page Visibility setting and double-click on it
- A new window will open. If this setting is configured to hide the Startup page and/or other pages, the Enabled option will be selected in this window
- Look for the hide:startupapps entry in the text field on the left middle section and delete it. If there are multiple entries, say hide:startupapps;defaultapps, etc., and you don’t want to unhide other entries, then only remove startupapps text. In case no option is set, simply select the Not Configured option in the top left part of this setting window
- Press the Apply button and OK button.
Close and reopen the Settings app and go to the Apps category. You will see the Startup page and accessing that page will show a list of apps.

2] Restore or fix the Startup page Registry entries
Like many other important settings, Windows Registry stores some entries related to the Startup page and apps. If those Registry entries are deleted or modified with incorrect values, you won’t see the Startup page in the Windows 11 Settings app. Therefore, you have to restore or fix the Registry entries related to the Startup apps page. This fix has helped some users. Before using this option, take a backup of the Windows Registry that you might need later. Now use these steps:
- Type regedit in the Search box and hit Enter. This opens the Registry Editor window
- Access the System Registry key in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE root Registry key. Here is the path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
- Look for the SupportUwpStartupTasks DWORD (32-bit) Value and double-click on it to edit it
- Add 1 in the Value data box
- Press OK button
- Look for the SupportFullTrustStartupTasks DWORD (32-bit) Value and open its edit box
- Add 1 in the Value data field and press OK
- Access the EnableFullTrustStartupTasks DWORD (32-bit) Value to edit it
- Add 2 in the Value data box
- Press OK
- Double-click on the EnableUwpStartupTasks DWORD (32-bit) Value to open the Edit Value box
- Enter 2 in the Value data
- Press the OK button
- Close the Registry Editor.
If you don’t find these Registry entries, first create new DWORD (32-bit) Values one by one, rename them, and add their value data as mentioned in the above steps.
Open the Settings app, and the Startup page will appear under the Apps category.
That’s all.

We couldn’t find this app error on Startup page
In the Startup page of the Settings app, you may see a We couldn’t find this app error on your Windows PC. This error appears if the path to that app does not exist or the app is located on a network drive. You can also see such a dead entry in the Startup apps list if the path in the Registry value is invalid or the app is uninstalled. To fix this problem, delete the residuals of that app. Click on the error and it will show the Registry Location and Value related to that app. Follow that path and remove the invalid entries to fix the issue.

How do I fix my startup apps not showing up?
If there are no startup items to display in the Startup apps section of the Task Manager, restart File Explorer to fix the issue if it’s temporary. If this doesn’t help, access the Startup folder and add the shortcuts for those apps you want in the Startup apps list. If the Startup folder is missing and causing this issue, then create a Startup folder manually. You can also run the SFC scan to repair corrupt system files and solve this problem.
Why are installed programs not showing in Start menu of Windows 11?
There’s a setting in the Local Group Policy Editor if configured can remove the All apps section in the Start menu. This could be why installed programs are now showing on your Windows Start menu. To fix it, access the Remove All Programs list from the Start menu setting in the Group Policy and set it to Not Configured mode. You can also restart the Start menu or reset the Start menu of your Windows PC and see if it helps.
