The ” and @ keys keep swapping on Windows 11/10
If you notice that the ” and @ keys keep swapping on your Windows 11/10 computer, use the following fixes to resolve the issue:
- Check your keyboard language
- Reinstall your keyboard driver

Below, we have explained all these fixes in detail.
1] Check your keyboard language
The most common cause of this issue is the incorrect keyboard language. It is possible that your keyboard is set to the English (UK) language instead of the English (US) language. I also reproduced this problem on my laptop by installing the English United Kingdom) language pack for my keyboard. When I set the English (UK) for my keyboard layout, the ” and @ keys were swapped on my laptop.
You can check this in Windows 11/10 Settings. Follow the steps provided below:
- Open the Settings on your computer.
- Go to “Time & language > Language & region.”
- If you find the English (United Kingdom) language at the top, move the English (United States) language to the top.
Check if the issue is fixed. If this does not work, press the Win + Spacebar. This will open a popup window where you can select the English (United States) language for your keyboard. Alternatively, you can also remove the English (United Kingdom) language pack installed for your keyboard. To do so, open the Language & region page in Windows 11/10 Settings. Click on the three dots next to the English (United Kingdom) and select Remove.

The problem might also have occurred due to a program that you installed on your system previously. Some programs can change the way your keyboard functions. In this case, you can reset your keyboard settings to the default. Resetting a keyboard is also useful if it is not working as expected. Reset your keyboard and see if this fixes the issue.
4] Map your keyboard keys
You can also use the keyboard mapping software. You can assign a different key to your keyboard keys by using these programs. If the problem persists despite trying the above fixes, you can fix the problem by using the keyboard mapping software.
