Whenever you delete an email, Outlook shows a notification with an option to undo it. While it’s useful, some of you might find it annoying when deleting emails in bulk. In this post, we will show you how to turn off email deleted notifications in Outlook.
How to turn off Email deleted notifications in Outlook
- Open Outlook and let the emails sync.
- Click on the settings icon on the top right next to the tips icon.
- Navigate to Mail > Message handling > Action confirmations.
- Uncheck the box under “When I move, delete or archive a message,” which shows up the box confirming the action.
The settings will automatically save, and the next time you delete an email, it will not show up the message. Make sure to test it out.

How to fix repeated email notifications for old or deleted emails
Clear Outlook Cache
Cache is one of the main reasons you might get notifications for old or deleted emails. To fix this, you can clear Outlook cache and check if you are still facing the same issue.
- Press Windows Key + R to launch RUN.
- Copy and paste and press enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook
- Over here, you will see the RoamCache folder – open it.
- Then press CTRL + A to select all the files and Delete them.
- Once deleted, open Outlook and see if the issue is resolved.
Re-Login
Another issue is email syncing. To fix this, you can log out of the mail app and then log in again to force syncing.
- First, open the Outlook app on your desktop.
- Go to Settings > Email accounts.
- Click on Manage next to the email account.
- Click on Remove.
- Once removed, sign back into the mail app using your email account and check if you are still getting the same issue.
Temporarily Disable Notifications
You can also temporarily disable notifications, which can solve the syncing issues.
- To do this, go to Outlook > Settings.
- Click on General > Notifications.
- Over here, toggle off Notifications in Outlook and save.
- You must re-enable notifications after a few hours and then check if it solved the issue.

Update or Reinstall the Mail App
The issue could also be with an outdated mail app or corrupted files. To fix this, you can try updating the mail app by going to the Microsoft Store and searching for Outlook. If, after updating the app, you still encounter the same issue, then uninstall it.
- Press Windows Key + I to open Settings.
- Go to Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Outlook app > click the three dots icon and select Uninstall.
- Once uninstalled, go to the Windows Store, search for Outlook, and download it again.
- After installing, you must sign in to the Outlook app again.
You can use third-party email clients and uninstall Outlook if nothing works out. Many different email clients are available that work with all sorts of email providers, such as Outlook, Gmail, AOL, etc. Some notable names are Blue Mail, WunderMail, and Canary Email.
How to empty the deleted folder automatically?
Outlook offers dedicated settings for this. Go to Settings > Mail > Message handling > message options > Check the box next to Empty my deleted items folder. It will happen when you sign off or exit the application.
