Windows 11/10 brought us the concept of Modern UI Apps, so we can use the webcam on our system using the Camera app – thus, we don’t need to install additional software. The app saves pictures in the Camera Roll folder under the Pictures library. But in some scenarios, we have encountered issues when the app cannot detect the Camera Roll folder or save the snapped pictures in these folders. Here is the error one may receive in this situation:
We can’t get to the camera roll right now. Something went wrong while accessing the camera roll.
As you can see in the image above, there is no help or support link here to tell us how to solve this problem. This is the most awkward thing about Modern Apps that they do not provide support links with the error they throw. Try these steps to solve this problem.

1. Press Windows Key + R combination, type regedit in Run dialog box and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
2. Navigate here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folder
3. In the right pane of this location, right-click in the blank space and select New -> Expandable String Value.
Name this new string as {AB5FB87B-7CE2-4F83-915D-550846C9537B}. Now double-click on this string to modify its Value data:
4. In the Edit String box, put the Value data as %USERPROFILE%\Pictures\Camera Roll.
After this, close the Registry Editor and reboot the machine to make the changes effective. The problem should be fixed after restarting the system.
