Realizing the popularity of podcasts, Microsoft has come up with a unique experience to make Skype more appealing to content creators. The company has rolled out Skype for Content Creators, a new mode designed to open new interactive possibilities for our users all over the world. Content creators including leading digital broadcasters, streamers, and vloggers can use the platform for recording videos, podcasts, and live streaming calls without having to invest in expensive studio equipment.
As known, podcasts are perfect instruments for storytelling and what makes it so appealing is their characteristic of being just domain specific. For example, most podcasts focus only on the subject in which they have good expertise. This is the opposite of typical news which seems to be a random assortment of whatever is current and popular.
Skype for content creators works directly within NewTek NDI enabled software, and is available in Skype v8 for Windows and Mac users.
How to enable Skype for Content Creators mode
Open your Skype application and select the More menu (visible as three dots) and then select Settings.
Locate the ‘Calling’ option under ‘Settings’ section and then, choose ‘Advanced’.
Under ‘Advanced’ setting find ‘Allow NDI usage’ toggle and turn it on to enable NDI usage.
NDI or Network Device Interface is the world’s premier software-driven IP video technology. When enabled, it allows compatible systems, devices, and applications to connect and communicate over IP to share video, audio, and data. Getting started with NDI® is equivalent to adding connected devices to your network at home or the office
Moreover, the cost of transitioning to NewTek NDI doesn’t require heavy investment in expensive facility upgrades, new network infrastructure, or proprietary hardware.
Please note that you may find Skype Content Creators mode being turned off even when you have enabled it permanently. Do not worry since Microsoft intentionally turns Skype content creators mode off when you restart Skype. Also, if you have disabled it after a call, the setting will remain as such, the next time you use the feature.
