As Windows move from one feature update to another, it adds new features, and remove some features. These features are usually removed when there is a better alternative or existing functionality won’t work with future hardware. The same has happened with Windows 10 v1903 – and Microsoft has shared an official list of features which have been removed, will be removed and features which will no longer be supported.
Features removed in Windows 10 v1903
While this list might not be essential for consumers, but its good to know if there’s something which stopped working all of a sudden. Applications or code that depend on these features won’t function in this release unless you use another method. The list includes:
- The XDDM-based remote display driver is being removed
- Desktop messaging app doesn’t offer messages sync
- Taskbar settings roaming will not work anymore.
- Wi-Fi WEP and TKIP not supported.
- Windows To Go is being dropped.
- The Print 3D app replaced by the 3D builder.
Features which have been removed or will be removed soon
1] XDDM-based remote display driver
In Windows 10 v1903 Remote Desktop Service will have to use WDDM or Windows Display Driver Model. It is based on direct Display Driver (IDD) for a single session remote desktop. If your remote desktop software is still using Windows 2000 Display Driver Model, it will stop working.
WDDM provides the functionality required to render the desktop and applications using Desktop Window Manager. DWM is a compositing window manager running on top of Direct3D.

2] Desktop messaging app doesn’t offer messages sync
You will not be able to sync messages with the computer. The messaging app was introduced at the time of Windows 10 Mobile, and it made it possible to access messages directly in Windows 10 computer. Due to this change, you will only be able to access messages from the device that received the message.
Features no longer in development
1] Taskbar settings roaming:
Taskbar settings will not be synced any more across the device.
2] Wi-Fi WEP and TKIP
If you have configured a router or trying to connect to a router using WEP or TKIP security, you will be warned. Wifi security has moved to WPA2 or WPA3. So in the future, anytime you connect to a network, you will not be allowed to join.
3] Windows To Go
Call it as Portable Enterprise copy of Windows 10/8.1 and 8. There is no feature update available for this, and it also requires a specific type of USB that is no longer supported by many OEMs.
4] Print 3D app
If you want to print a 3D object, use the 3D Builder app. The Print 3D app will soon be removed. If you print a lot of 3D objects, then you should install the 3D Builder from the Store.
