Fix Windows Safe Mode says Password is incorrect
If Windows Safe Mode says Password is incorrect or Invalid password then you can use the following solutions to resolve the issue.
- Make sure that your Password is correct
- Use Safe Mode with Networking
- Remove Windows Password with Installation Media
Let us talk about them in detail.
1] Make sure that your Password is correct
The default Safe Mode in Windows works with a Local Account. So, you need to make sure that you are typing your Local account’s password. Sometimes, we tend to forget what our correct password is, especially if you are someone who generally logs in to your Microsoft Account. If that’s the case, then the best option is to go for the good old fashion trial and error. Try using all your older passwords, if that’s not working then move to the next solution.
2] Use Safe Mode with Networking
When you go for Safe Mode with Networking, you will be to access the Internet and hence, will be able to log in to your Microsoft Account. So, if you know the password of your Microsoft account then you can go for this option. However, we won’t recommend you to surf the web when in Safe Mode as that can make your system vulnerable to threats and malware.
When you open your computer in Safe Mode, you will see an option that says Enable Safe Mode with Networking. By doing that, you are basically opening Safe Mode with network devices, so, whether you use Ethernet or WiFi, both will work on your system and you will be able to access your Microsoft Account.
3] Remove Windows Password with Installation media
If both the options are to no avail, then you can use Installation Media to remove Windows Password. Follow the given steps to do the same.
- Boot from Installation Media.
- Select Languages, Architecture, and Edition.
- Select USB flash drive
- Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Option > Command Prompt.
- Now, execute the following commands, one by one.

In the above command, you can change the drive letter if your Windows is installed in some other drive.

Finally, restart your computer and check if the issue persists.
Hopefully, you are able to resolve the issue with these solutions.
