YouTube is the best media streaming platform. Just like many other software products and websites, it has a lot of hidden features known are Easter Eggs. YouTube Easter Eggs are features that are not visible upfront, and no one informs you about them either, but if you know how to search for these features, they can be found.
List of cool hidden YouTube Easter Eggs
YouTube Easter Eggs exist for different reasons. Some Easter Eggs are to mark legacies on the platform and others are simply a feature. Some other of these Easter Eggs are former features that are now merely a legacy. We will list Easter Eggs which are confirmed to work this year. The list is as follows:
- 301 video
- Stats for Nerds
- Open the YouTube Robots.txt file
- Awesome
- Seinfeld Without People
- Too Many Cooks
1] 301 video
The view count of one video on YouTube.com is frozen at 301. The real count would be way higher (definitely in millions) but it doesn’t change on the video. Rather, I personally opened the video many times, however, the view count didn’t change. People wonder the mystery behind this count and the simple reason is that YouTube stopped its counter as a joke.
To find this video, simply search 301 video in the YouTube search bar. The first video is stuck at 301 views. Many articles claim that this video is stuck at 301 views because it is among the earlier videos on YouTube, however, since this video was published in 2012, it cannot be that primitive.
2] Stats for Nerds
Every video is created in a certain frame width and dimensions. Depending on this frame width, you can decide the best video quality for playing the video. To get this information, right-click on the video for which you need the statistics, and select Stats for Nerds from the list. The statistics displayed will have necessary information which can help you play the video in the best quality and health for playing the video.
Eg. If the video frame is 916*515, then the best quality for the video is 1280*720.
3] Open the YouTube Robots.txt file
If you are a Developer, you would know well what the Robots.txt file is. To obtain this file, simply add robots.txt as an append to YouTube.com. This means, open the URL YouTube.com/robots.txt. This file can be used to instruct to robots on how to crawl webpages.
4] Awesome
This trick is one of the leftover miracle Easter Eggs of YouTube. A lot of other Easter Eggs have been phased out. However, this trick still works and works very well. Do the following – while playing a video on YouTube, simply type the word “awesome” without the quotes. You don’t need to hit Enter or any other key. As soon as you type this work, you will notice the video buffer bar change in appearance. It will turn greenish blue and flicker.
To revert this change, you can type the word “awesome” once again. Other than this, reloading the video or refreshing the page will also revert the changes.
5] Seinfeld Without People
All videos on YouTube have a title and description. A video cannot exist without the title (even if you miss the description) because such a video cannot be searched for any keyword. However, we found an exception. When you search “Seinfeld Without People” on the YouTube search bar, you will come across a video with no title and description. This is the first video in the list.
When you open the video, you will notice that the first comment is empty too. Strangely, I was never able to mimic this on my videos. This video is about Seinfeld setups without people in it.
6] Too Many Cooks
Every YouTube video has a title written in the same font. The bold font is the standard. I found no option to change the font while trying to upload my own videos and saw no video with a font choice, EXCEPT ONE. This video is the Too Many Cooks video posted by the Adult Swim channel. The font is golden in color and enlarged.
How do you get Rainbow Line on YouTube?
The Rainbow line on YouTube can be achieved by typing the word “awesome” while viewing a video. The Rainbow Line keeps changing color and keeps flickering. To revert the Rainbow line, you can reload the page or simply type the word “awesome” once again.
What is the most famous Google Easter Egg?
Just like YouTube, Google has Easter Eggs too. The most popular one is “The Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything.” You know that the Google Search bar can be used as a calculator. But if you search the sentence “The Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything” on Google, the reply would be 42 on Google calculator. The reason – no reason. Though people created countless theories over this, the creator confirmed that it was just a random number.
Now take a look at some of the best YouTube Tips and Tricks.
